funnel web
Australian venomous spider
A funnel web is a web spun by certain spiders in a funnel or tube shape, with the spider waiting at the narrow end for prey to stumble into the wider opening.
Funnel-web spiders, particularly the Sydney funnel-web, are among the world's most venomous.
The term often appears as a modifier: funnel-web spider, funnel-web bite.
