frenulums
Small restraining membranes
Frenulums is the plural of frenulum, a small fold of tissue that restricts the movement of an organ or body part.
The most familiar is the frenulum under the tongue, connecting it to the floor of the mouth—when too tight, it causes tongue-tie.
Another connects the foreskin to the glans of the penis.
The Latin plural frenula also appears, especially in medical contexts.
