freecycling
Giving away items
Freecycling is giving away unwanted items for free, typically through online networks where people post things they no longer need and others claim them.
The practice keeps usable goods out of landfills: I'm freecycling this old couch if anyone wants it.
The term comes from Freecycle, a nonprofit network founded in 2003 to facilitate such exchanges.
