free shot
Uncontested scoring chance
A free shot is an uncontested attempt, typically in sports—a basketball free throw, a penalty kick, or any shot taken without defensive pressure.
The meaning extends to any opportunity without opposition or consequences: Take a free shot at me—I won't fight back.
In drinking games, a free shot may be one you don't have to earn or pay for.
