forest guide
Trail-wise wilderness leader
A forest guide is a person who leads others through wooded areas, providing navigation, safety, and information about the environment.
Forest guides may work professionally in parks or wilderness areas, leading hiking groups, educational tours, or hunting expeditions: We hired a forest guide to take us through the backcountry.
The term sometimes appears in fantasy contexts for woodland-savvy characters.
