nature journal
Field observation notebook
A nature journal is a notebook for recording observations of the natural world—plants, animals, weather, landscapes.
Entries typically combine written notes with sketches, pressed specimens, or other visual documentation.
The practice blends scientific observation with personal reflection: She kept a nature journal during her year on the coast.
