forend
Rifle's forward handhold
The forend is the front part of a rifle or shotgun's stock, the wooden or synthetic piece that extends beneath the barrel.
It provides a grip for the non-trigger hand and protects fingers from a hot barrel: He steadied the shotgun by the forend.
Also called a forearm or handguard.
