force quit
End frozen program
Force quit is a command that immediately terminates an application or process, bypassing the normal shutdown procedure.
Users resort to force quitting when software becomes unresponsive or frozen—when clicking the close button or using regular exit commands produces no result.
The app wasn't responding, so I had to force quit it.
On most systems, force quitting risks losing unsaved work since the program has no opportunity to prompt for saving.
