foley sounds
Manufactured film audio
Foley sounds are sound effects created in post-production by recording physical actions in a studio—footsteps, rustling clothes, clinking glasses, creaking doors.
Named after sound-effects artist Jack Foley, the technique synchronizes recorded sounds with on-screen movement: The foley artist walked on gravel to match the actor's steps.
Foley adds texture and realism that on-set recording can't capture.
