floating frame
Glass-sandwiched art mount
A floating frame is a picture frame designed so the artwork appears suspended within the frame rather than pressed against glass or matting.
A gap between the image and frame edges creates the illusion that the piece floats in space: The canvas looked stunning in a simple floating frame.
The style is popular for gallery-wrapped canvases and dimensional artwork.
