fit to burst

About to pop

Fit to burst describes being so full of something—food, emotion, anticipation—that you feel ready to explode.

Most often it follows eating: I ate so much I'm fit to burst.

But it applies equally to contained feelings: She was fit to burst with excitement.

The phrase is more common in British than American English.
