fence jumping
Clearing vertical obstacles
Fence jumping is the act of climbing over a fence, often to enter restricted property without authorization.
The term applies literally to trespassing or escaping enclosures, and figuratively to switching sides or allegiances: After years as a loyal Democrat, his fence jumping surprised everyone.
In retail contexts, it can mean shoplifting by exiting over security barriers.
