feeding back

Returning output upstream

Feeding back is the act of returning information, results, or signals to their source.

In technical contexts, it describes output being routed back into a system as input: The microphone was feeding back through the speakers, creating that awful squeal.

More broadly, it means providing response or evaluation: I've been feeding back my concerns to management for months.
