fasting rules
When to abstain
Fasting rules are guidelines governing when and what people may eat during religious observances.
Different traditions have different rules: Catholics abstain from meat on certain days, Muslims eat nothing between dawn and sunset during Ramadan, Jews avoid all food and drink on Yom Kippur.
The fasting rules allow water but not solid food.
