isolation play
Clear-out offensive strategy
An isolation play is a basketball offensive strategy that clears one side of the court to let a single player go one-on-one against a defender: They ran an isolation play for their star guard.
The tactic relies on individual skill rather than team movement, often used late in games when you need your best scorer to create.
Sometimes shortened to iso: He's unstoppable in iso.
