face value
Nominal monetary amount
Face value is the amount printed or stated on something—a coin, bill, ticket, or bond: The face value of the stamp is fifty cents.
Extended to mean what something appears to be on the surface, without deeper analysis: I took his explanation at face value.
To take something at face value is to accept it as presented, without questioning hidden meanings or motives.
