experiencers

Ones who undergo

Experiencers are those who undergo or feel something—the ones to whom events happen or sensations occur.

In linguistics, the experiencer is a semantic role: the entity that perceives, feels, or is psychologically affected by an action, as opposed to one who performs it.

The child in "The noise frightened the child" is the experiencer.

More broadly, experiencers are simply people who have experiences: The study interviewed experiencers of near-death phenomena.
