expanding foam

Gap-filling aerosol

Expanding foam is a substance that sprays as liquid and swells into solid foam as it cures, used for insulation, filling gaps, and sealing cracks.

The foam expands to several times its original volume, hardening into a rigid or semi-rigid mass: I used expanding foam to seal around the pipes.

Also called spray foam.
