An ex-coworker is someone you used to work with but no longer do—either because one of you left the job or the workplace no longer exists.
The prefix ex- marks the relationship as past: I ran into an ex-coworker at the grocery store.
Unlike former colleague, ex-coworker carries a casual, sometimes slightly distant tone.
