essential tremor
Involuntary hand quivering
Essential tremor is a neurological condition causing involuntary, rhythmic shaking—most commonly in the hands, but also affecting the head, voice, or other body parts.
Unlike Parkinson's tremor, essential tremor typically worsens with intentional movement rather than at rest: Her essential tremor made it difficult to drink from a cup.
The condition often runs in families and tends to progress slowly with age.
