electropolished
Electrically surface-finished
Electropolished describes metal that has been smoothed and polished through an electrochemical process—essentially the reverse of electroplating.
The metal serves as the anode in an electrolyte bath, and a controlled electrical current dissolves microscopic surface irregularities, leaving a bright, corrosion-resistant finish.
Common for stainless steel in medical instruments, food processing equipment, and semiconductor manufacturing: The electropolished surface meets pharmaceutical cleanroom standards.
