egotists
They're self-absorbed
Egotists are people excessively focused on themselves—their own importance, abilities, or interests.
The egotist steers every conversation back to themselves, treats others as audience rather than participants: The dinner party was exhausting—nothing but egotists competing for attention.
The word carries clear disapproval, unlike the more neutral "self-confident."
