grandstanders
Those craving applause
People who grandstand—who perform actions or make statements designed to attract attention and impress an audience rather than to accomplish anything substantive.
The term is dismissive, implying that someone's apparent principles or outrage are really just posturing: The senators questioning the witness were grandstanders playing to the cameras.
