eco-city
Sustainable urban community
An eco-city is an urban area designed to minimize environmental impact through sustainable practices—renewable energy, efficient public transit, green buildings, and reduced waste.
The term describes both purpose-built developments and retrofitted existing cities: The government announced plans to build an eco-city from scratch.
Also called a sustainable city or green city.
