e-resident

Remote national registration

An e-resident is a person who has digital residency in a country without physically living there, typically gaining access to government services, banking, and the ability to establish businesses.

Estonia pioneered the concept in 2014: As an e-resident of Estonia, she runs her consulting firm entirely online.

The status confers no physical residency rights or citizenship.
