Thorin
Norse masculine name
Thorin is a dwarf king in J.R.R.
Tolkien's *The Hobbit*, leader of the company that reclaims the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug.
His full title, Thorin Oakenshield, comes from using an oak branch as a shield in battle.
The name has become shorthand for a proud, stubborn leader on a quest for ancestral glory: He's got that Thorin energy—noble but pigheaded.
