Dummied up has two distinct meanings.
In one sense, to dummy up is to fall silent or refuse to talk, especially when questioned: He dummied up when the cops arrived.
In the other, to dummy something up is to create a mock-up or preliminary version: We dummied up a prototype to show the investors.
