duck decoys
Floating hunter's fakes
Duck decoys are artificial ducks used by hunters to attract live waterfowl within shooting range.
Traditionally carved from wood and painted to resemble various species, modern decoys are often molded plastic.
Hunters arrange them on water or fields to create the appearance of a safe gathering place.
Antique hand-carved decoys have become collectible folk art: His grandfather's decoys sold for thousands at auction.
