Grandma Moses
Late-blooming artist
Grandma Moses was the nickname of Anna Mary Robertson Moses (1860–1961), an American folk artist who began painting in her late seventies and became internationally celebrated for her nostalgic rural scenes.
Her name has become shorthand for late-blooming artistic success: She's a real Grandma Moses—started writing novels at eighty.
