dry noodles

Hard, brittle pasta

Dry noodles are pasta or Asian noodles sold in dehydrated form, as opposed to fresh.

They keep indefinitely in a pantry and require boiling or soaking before eating: The recipe calls for eight ounces of dry noodles.

Most supermarket pasta—spaghetti, ramen, rice vermicelli—is sold dry.
