drafting room
Technical drawing space
A drafting room is a workspace where technical drawings and blueprints are produced, traditionally equipped with large tilted tables, T-squares, and specialized lighting.
Architects, engineers, and designers worked in drafting rooms before computer-aided design moved most of this work to screens.
The term persists in some organizations even when the room now holds workstations rather than drafting tables.
