double-bass
Deepest string voice
A double-bass is the largest and lowest-pitched instrument in the violin family, played upright while standing or seated on a high stool.
It provides the bass foundation in orchestras and jazz ensembles: The double-bass player plucked a walking line behind the soloist.
Also called a bass, upright bass, or contrabass.
