disconnectors
Devices that isolate
Disconnectors is the plural of disconnector, a device or switch that breaks an electrical circuit.
In power systems, disconnectors isolate equipment for maintenance by creating a visible gap in the circuit: The technicians opened the disconnectors before working on the transformer.
The term also appears in firearms, where a disconnector prevents automatic firing by requiring the trigger to be released between shots.
