dimensional rift

Breach between worlds

A dimensional rift is a tear or opening between parallel universes, alternate realities, or planes of existence—a staple of science fiction and fantasy.

Characters fall through dimensional rifts to reach other worlds or timelines.

The concept appears in games, comics, and speculative fiction: A dimensional rift opened above the city, and creatures poured through.
