dime store

Cheap goods shop

A dime store is a retail shop selling inexpensive merchandise—the name comes from when many items cost a dime or less.

Woolworth's was the classic example.

As an adjective, dime-store suggests something cheap or second-rate: a dime-store novel, dime-store philosophy.

The term is largely nostalgic now, as the stores themselves have mostly disappeared.
