desizing
Removing fabric starch
Desizing is a textile manufacturing process that removes sizing—starch or other substances applied to yarn to strengthen it during weaving.
Once the fabric is woven, the sizing must be washed or chemically treated away before dyeing or finishing: The fabric undergoes desizing before it can absorb dye evenly.
