deshedding
Clearing excess coat
Deshedding is removing loose fur from a pet's coat before it falls out naturally and accumulates on furniture, clothing, and floors.
The term applies to both the process and the specialized tools designed for it: I need to do some deshedding before allergy season, a deshedding brush.
Regular deshedding reduces household pet hair and can improve coat health.
