denormalizes

Denormalizes means to undo or reverse normalization—to take something that has been standardized or made typical and return it to a less uniform state.
In database design, to denormalize is to intentionally add redundancy to improve performance: We denormalized the tables to speed up queries.
More broadly, denormalizing can mean making something seem abnormal again after it had become accepted: The campaign denormalizes smoking by showing its consequences.
