deflations
Letting air out
Deflations is the plural of deflation.
In economics, deflation is a general decline in prices, the opposite of inflation—The deflations of the 1930s devastated farming communities.
More concretely, deflation is the release of air from something inflated: the deflation of a tire, the deflation of a balloon.
Figuratively, deflation describes the puncturing of someone's confidence, ego, or enthusiasm: His deflations of her grand plans were getting tiresome.
