pumping up
Filling with air
Pumping up is inflating something with air or fluid: pumping up a bicycle tire, pumping up a basketball.
Figuratively, it means building enthusiasm or energy: The coach spent halftime pumping up the team.
To pump yourself up is to psych yourself into readiness: I was pumping myself up before the interview.
Pumping up also describes increasing intensity or volume: pumping up the bass.
