defensive ends
Quarterback pursuit specialists
Defensive ends are football players who line up at the outer edges of the defensive line, tasked primarily with rushing the quarterback and containing running plays that sweep toward the sidelines.
They combine speed and strength to get around offensive tackles or power through them.
Elite defensive ends are among the most valuable players on a team, as their ability to disrupt the passing game forces quicker, less accurate throws.
The defensive ends collapsed the pocket before the quarterback could find an open receiver.
