offensive tackles
Quarterback's blind guardians
Offensive tackles are the two players on a football team's offensive line positioned at each end, protecting the quarterback's blind side and creating running lanes.
They're typically the largest and most athletic linemen, valued for their combination of size and footwork: The team drafted an offensive tackle in the first round.
A left tackle is especially prized for protecting a right-handed quarterback's vulnerable side.
