dealer cost
Retailer's purchase price
Dealer cost is what a retailer pays to acquire merchandise before marking it up for sale.
The term appears most often in automobile sales, where buyers try to negotiate down toward the dealer's actual cost: I got the car for just above dealer cost.
Also called dealer invoice or wholesale price.
