cut scene
Non-playable video segment
A cut scene is a non-interactive sequence in a video game that advances the story or provides context between playable segments.
The player watches rather than controls the action—the gameplay is "cut" by a cinematic interlude.
Cut scenes range from simple dialogue exchanges to elaborate cinematics: I always skip the cut scenes and go straight to the action.
Also spelled cutscene.
