cross multiply
Solve proportion diagonally
Cross multiply is a shortcut for solving equations with fractions on both sides.
You multiply the numerator of each fraction by the denominator of the other, then set the products equal: If a/b = c/d, then ad = bc.
The technique works because you're effectively multiplying both sides by both denominators at once.
It's a staple of middle-school algebra: Cross multiply to solve for x.
