cross-match
Test donor compatibility
Cross-match is a medical procedure testing compatibility between a donor's blood or tissue and a recipient's before transfusion or transplant.
Laboratory technicians mix samples to check for dangerous reactions: We need to cross-match two units of blood before surgery.
The term also applies to matching evidence across databases in forensic or research contexts.
