crate training
Cage acclimation method
Crate training is a method of housebreaking dogs by confining them to a crate when unsupervised.
The principle relies on a dog's reluctance to soil its sleeping area.
Done properly, the crate becomes a den the dog retreats to voluntarily: She's still crate training the puppy, so accidents happen.
Critics argue extended crating is cruel; proponents say dogs find crates comforting.
