corms
Bulblike plant bases
Corms are bulb-like underground plant structures that store nutrients, found in crocuses, gladioli, and taro.
Unlike true bulbs, which have layered scales, a corm is solid tissue—essentially a swollen stem base.
Each growing season, the plant consumes the old corm and produces a new one on top of it.
