cord-cutter

Streaming service convert

A cord-cutter is someone who cancels their cable or satellite television subscription, typically in favor of streaming services.

The cord is the physical cable connecting to traditional TV service.

The term emerged as Netflix, Hulu, and similar platforms made the old subscription model feel unnecessary: We became cord-cutters when we realized we only watched streaming anyway.
