contrast control
Light-dark intensity setting
Contrast control is a setting on televisions, monitors, and other display devices that adjusts the difference between the lightest and darkest areas of an image.
Increasing contrast makes bright areas brighter and dark areas darker, giving the picture more visual punch; decreasing it produces a flatter, more washed-out appearance.
The term also applies in photography and image editing software, where contrast adjustments affect the tonal range of photographs.
